A mythical discovery quest, basically it’s how you get Mew in Pokemon go. We are going to be guiding you all over stages and what you need to complete each stage including the rewards that you will get after you complete them.
Pokemon Go quests were finally released today in Pokemon go and we have two different types of quests. We have field research and we have special research. What I’m mainly going to be going over in this guide is the special research part.
On this page:
So with that being said the first objective the first stage one is going to be…
|Stage 1 Tasks||Rewards|
|Spin 5 PokéStops or Gyms||500 XP|
|Catch 10 Pokemon||500 XP|
|Transfer 5 Pokemon||500 XP|
|Stage 1 Completion Rewards|
|Great Ball x10|
|Lure Module x3|
By far this is the easiest one to do and I assume most of you guys have already completed this one already.
I would recommend walking a 1 KM buddy like Pidgey or Magikarp but we’ll get it to the Magikarp later.
|Stage 2 Tasks||Rewards|
|Earn 2 Candies walking with your buddy||1000 XP|
|Make 10 Great Throws||1000 XP|
|Hatch 3 Eggs||1000 XP|
|Stage 2 Completion Rewards|
|Great Ball x20|
Something else to keep in mind is that if you actually land excellent throws it will count towards your great throw progress. So that’s actually really good to know and on top of that if you don’t actually catch the Pokemon it will still count towards your progress.
Let’s say you’re trying to catch something really difficult. For example, like a Murkrow and you land like 7 excellent throws. All 7 of those excellent throws will count towards this meta whether or not you catch that Murkrow.
It’s a cool little workaround that you can actually use to progress on your meta a lot faster than catching 10 different Pokemon with great throws or with excellent throws.
Now the last one is going to be hatch three eggs. It doesn’t matter what eggs you had, just hatch three eggs.
I’m not gonna lie, I definitely felt like the first stage rewards were a little bit better but anyway let’s go ahead and move on here to stage 3.
If you’ve already reached level 15 you don’t have to worry about this one. It should give it to you automatically.
|Stage 3 Tasks||Rewards|
|Reach Level 15||1500 XP|
|Battle in a Gym 2 times||1500 XP|
|Battle in 2 raids||1500 XP|
|Stage 3 Completion Rewards|
|Charge TM x1|
|Quick TM x1|
|Star Piece x2|
Some clarification on “Battle in a Gym 2 Times”, this does not mean a raid battle this just means like a regular gym battle so you need to do that 2 times and then battle in 2 raids so like I said not to get those two confused they are not the same thing.
The rewards on this one are actually really good. Stage three is coming through with some really nice rewards.
Alright moving over to stage 4 is gonna get a little bit harder and the objectives on this one are…
If you have Pidgey saved up now’s the best time to evolve them. Personally I actually saved up a lot of Pidgey unintentionally knowing that this is gonna be a requirement.
|Stage 4 Tasks||Rewards|
|Earn a silver Kanto medal||2,000 XP|
|Evolve 20 Pokemon||2,000 XP|
|Earn 5 Candies Walking With Your Buddy||2,000 XP|
|Stage 4 Completion Rewards|
|Lure Modules x3|
|Great Ball x20|
Like I said earlier, I highly recommend walking Magikarp. But if you also want to walk another 1 KM, I also recommend walking Pidgy.
The rewards on this one again are pretty decent. Actually the lower modules are definitely gonna come in handy with a double star this event going on.
So this is where a lot of people are having trouble right now and the main reason is that you have to catch a Ditto. Now each of these objective rewards is going to award you 2,500 experience so catching ditto being the hardest one.
|Stage 5 Tasks||Rewards|
|Catch Ditto||2,500 XP|
|Make 20 Great Throws||2,500 XP|
|Catch 10 Ghost Pokemon||2,500 XP|
|Stage 5 Completion Rewards|
|Premium Raid Pass x1|
|Lucky Egg x1|
They actually added some new species that can turn into ditto and they also removed Magikarp a while back. If you don’t know that Magikarp was removed, the Magikarp can no longer turn into a Ditto.
New species that can turn into Ditto are going to be Gulpin, Whismur, and Ledyba.
And for catching 10 ghost pokemon, I know Duskull does come out more during the night so you may have a little bit more luck hunting during the night to get the Duskull.
This stage is probably gonna be the most difficult for everybody unless you’ve been saving up your Magikarp candy but if you haven’t this where it gets tough.
|Stage 6 Tasks||Rewards|
|Reach Level 25||3,000 XP|
|Battle 10 Raids||3,000 XP|
|Evolve a Magikarp||3,000 XP|
|Stage 6 Completion Rewards|
|Rare Candy x5|
A cool little trick that was found out today is that when you battle a raid you don’t actually have to complete or win the raid. You just have to finish it.
So if you time out of the raid and you go back in and you do it again. Each of those attempts as long as you time out will count as a raid attempt. It’s kind of a cool little workaround that was pointed out today but it’s most likely a bug and it was unintentional. And if you can get that done before they fix it, kudos to you but if not just knock out 10 raids.
It is kind of underwhelming considering how much you have to do but we’re close to the end now.
You can use any berry on these objectives and this does not matter. Just make sure you catch 50 pokemon using a berry. And make one excellent curve throw which is incredibly easy considering they only ask you to do one so that shouldn’t be too difficult.
|Stage 7 Tasks||Rewards|
|Catch 50 Pokémon using a Berry||3,500 XP|
|Make 1 Excellent Curve throw||3,500 XP|
|Earn a Gold Kanto medal||3,500 XP|
|Stage 7 Completion Rewards|
|Ultra Ball x20|
|A Mythical Pokémon Encounter x1|
If you are having trouble with that make sure to read some of my throwing tutorials that could help you out there.
The last one is to earn a gold Kanto medal. Now earning the gold Kanto medal is to have a hundred Pokemon in the Kanto badge.
This is when you get Mew and so finally stage 8 is the simplest one. Basically, just catch Mew.
|Final Stage Tasks||Rewards|
|Catch Mew||4,000 XP|
|Final Stage Completion Rewards|
|Super Incubator x1|
|Mew Candy x20|
Mew has a 100% catch rate so make sure you use Pinap Berry on Mew.
Honestly, this new quest system is groundbreaking for Pokemon Go and I guarantee you a lot of players are coming back right now to do this and it’ll actually keep them pretty active in-game.
It’s something to do every single day, there’s no limit on how many field research quest you can do a day. However, you can only get one stamp per day.
I hope to see you get yourselves a Mew and if you have any questions, make sure to comment them down below.
