In this pokemon go type chart guide, we are going to discuss the massive topic of pokemon go type effectiveness. Pokemon go is definitely unique to just kind of the main series and how everything works.
For example, you have immunities in the main series which would do zero damage. However, in Pokemon Go, it does the equivalent of double resistance which we will be talking about later on in this guide.
But I just wanna go ahead and preface that because Pokemon Go is unique so maybe you are rusty to it or maybe you just want to learn it and this is gonna be a perfect guide for you.
Advantages Of Type Effectiveness In Battle
The reason why this is so important in Pokemon GO right now is really a two-fold thing.
First things first, you have PvP so understanding type effectiveness is going to massively give you an upper hand versus your opponent. Especially if they don’t understand all of it.
And then secondly, we ended up getting some new multipliers which means that super-effective damage is going to do more than ever has in the past as well as resistances is really going to prevent the amount of damage that someone can do something against you.
What Is Damage Multipliers In Pokemon Go?
To be successful in raids and gym battle. You have to consider these 4 damage multipliers which are S.T.A.B, W.A.B, F.A.B, and Super Effectiveness.
S.T.A.B refers to the Same Type Attack Bonus. It simply means if you are using an attack that matches the type of the Pokemon. For example, Vaporeon a water type pokemon using a water type move you get the S.T.A.B Bonus which will give you 20% additional done for that move. So if that move is supposed to do 100 damage and now it does 120 again the defender.
Super Effectiveness works in a similar way. For example, if your opponent has a fire type Pokemon which is weak to water type and use water type move against that pokemon, you get the super effectiveness bonus. Which gives you 40% more damage done for just using the type that they are weak against.
F.A.B refers to Friendship Attack Bonus. Players will get bonus damage if they battle together in Gym or Raid battle. There are 4 types of bonuses based on your friendship level.
- Good friends will give you a 3% damage bonus.
- Great friends will give you a 5% damage bonus.
- Ultra friends will give you a 7% damage bonus.
- Best friends will give you a 10% damage bonus.
Lastly, W.A.B or known as Weather attack bonus. You will also get a 20% damage bonus by using the Move type that matches the weather condition. For example, Vaporeon a water type pokemon is will do 20% more damage using a Water gun moves on your opponent.
Keep in mind that all these multipliers do stack up, so if you are battling in a gym with your friends with a level of “Best friends” while the weather is raining and your opponent’s pokemon is Charmander. Using a Vaporeon with a water movesets, your total damage will be 140%(Super Effective)+20%(STAB)+10%(FAB)+20%(WAB).
